The Eames

“Toys are not really as innocent as they look. Toys and games are preludes to serious ideas.”

It seems appropriate to start with the Eames. Enthusiastic and tireless in their experiments, they moved between the fields of photography, film, architecture, exhibition-making, and furniture and product design.

In their House of Cards, the duo’s appreciation for the uncommon beauty of common things is exemplified. The slotted cards display a rich assortment of photographs on one side and an asterisk on the other. The House of Cards can be assembled together in endless different ways to form fantastic structures, both large and small.
